In my opinion Charlie would be very good choice for new submarine. This SSGN have better sense than Oscar II because attack needs to go close to surface group. Oscar is too valuable sub for risking closing to enemy - mostly well protected by hunter-killer submarines

This source shows Charlie have 8 tubes for missiles (P-40 Ametist) and 6 torpedo tubes:
4x 53 cm
2x 40 cm

I think new sub could use Akula interface with internal tubes (8) for P-40 Ametist and external for torpedoes. I don't know is it easily possible but i think its not impossible

Btw most of Charlie I & II weapon exist in game.
In my opinion adding next SSN for RED side is pointless. But adding SSGN - submarine specialized in missile attack on surface groups could open wider spectrum for new mission wypes - especially in MP battles

In my opinion its much better idea for gameplay than adding Yankee Notch because 667AT is only beauty but unfortunatelly useless in DW.

Hi, i had installed DW with last release of ReinForce Alert, after i maked a mission with a Sauro submarine and a cargo that go straight ahead, i tried the sonar and i get this.



there seems to be false signals, it is a bug?
Considering that the cargo sails straight, all sonar signals should be the same.

Hi, i tried the same mission in another computer with a fresh installation of DW and RA, the sub go straight ahead without changes of direction and the cargo is the same, and however I have the same false contact.

This only happens with sauro, U212 or other sub that i had tried don't show this bug

1. Torpedo 65-76

In Narrowband "filter" torpedo 65-76 doesn't exist. No matter filter is ON/OFF or player platform is west/east type or sub/surf.

I've checked full list with filter off - torpedo 65-76 (or similar name - 65 cm like in vanilla) doesn't exist



2. SUBROC UUM-44

In Ra 1.49 range of this weapon was reduced to 6 nmi. I don't know wy because all sources shows range of this subrocket close to 30 nmi

In RA 1.49 was added playable Adams class destroyer with RUR-5 ASROC weapon with short range: 5.4 nmi.
for many people ASROC = SUBROC (similar name) and 1 difference is only launching platform, in this case surface ship vs submarine. But in fact this weapon is completly different and independent design.

SUBROC is much bigger with rocket designed for launching from underwater.

Goodyear UUM-44 Subroc is NOT submarine version of Honeywell RUR-5 ASROC


Btw it was good move to decresse nuke warhead of SS-N-15 and UUM-44 to the same level for game purpose. This is good for game balance. But so great disproportion in range makes using of nuke subrocs pointless again.
Maximum range of UUM-44 is shorter than shkval!

Of course detection range in this case means "first ring" (circa 30 nmi)

So please to reconsider changing range value for UUM-44 to more correct 30 nmi (55 km) instead currently 6 nmi (11 km)

Is it way to make messages to all (in MP sessions) distinguishable from messages to "side/team" (i mean messages by "a" from messages sending by pressing "d")?
I think it could be special prefix or differnt color or italic font - any method would be good.

Bug Report

Playable Charles F. Adams has a bug on Bridge station when view is on the left, with Pitch and Roll in view.

When mouse cursor hovers Pitch and Roll, some data displays over those controls.

Typhoon Improved class?

I can't find any info online to support that there was ever any Improved Typhoon class with a towed array.

So, why does RA have the Typhoon Improved class?
Is it just another fantasy typhoon like the Red October?

Typhoon Imptoved class in russian named project 941UM. Only one submarine modernized for this project. TK-208 Dmitry Donskoy. Used for testing Bulava missiles.

But i forgot project 941U.
TK-208 be modernizated to this project when have big repair at factory.
If you want you can check in game name of Typhoon and name of Typhoon Improved. After that TK-208 be modernizated to project 941UM.
Sometimes TK-208 at present time called 941U, but that not care. Typhoon have two main variant. Just 941 and 941U (941UM). In game we have all. Red October at fiction submarine, but they have one interesting feature: silence cryogen drive. And that feature work!

So only TK-208 was modernized and received new name "Dmitriy Donskoy", but RA has 3 Typhoon Improved (941U) (Arkhangel'sk, Dmitriy Donskoy and Severstal')

Your link says TK-208 was 12 years in overhaul and modifications, which resulted in it being considered as a fourth-generation submarine due to those extensive modifications.
It's clear it was refitted to serve as platform to the new SLBM (Bulava), but it's not clear if it received better sensors and quietening equipment.

Johny, now Arhangel'sk and Severstal' wait somethink. Maybe that be modernization. Maybe not.
I read about plans to modernization for SSGN class. Plans included change 20 SLBN missile to 200 LACM missile. Like Ohio with Tomahawk. But still not finished that modernization. I think in RA we have bug. TK-17 and TK-20 not project 941U. Maybe in future tgey be project 941UM (Club-S at rocket mine).

My point in all this is, does RA correctly portray the differences between the Typhoons P.941 and the P.941U?

One thing that does not seem correct is that they both use the exact same SLBM. 941U (Dimitry Donskoy) should use the new RSM-56 Bulava (SS-N-32).
The same with the Borey class, in RA the Borey uses the SS-N-20 SLBM, and that is not correct. It should use the RSM-56 Bulava (SS-N-32).

Exclamation Bug or not?

Hi. Why in mission editor we have Korund for Victor-III, but in loadout screen haven't Korund? So... Lada have MG-74, but haven't that decoy in mission editor. Thank you.
