For me better is Akula I from very early design (without external tubes) because currently in RA, we have many similar to each other versions of Akulas. In other hand, Akula I with or without external tubes haven't great impact for balance (if only Korund allowed).
My vote:
Akula I without external tubes
K-284 was launched in 1984. Fourth of Akula I (K-420) was launched 5 years later and I do not know if she was from the beginning with external tubes. (Maybe it was later modernisation?)
If in DW we have so many variants of Akula, I think we should to choose very early for Akula I and latest (with supersonic Sizzlers) for most sophisticated Akula III.
