I did some tests and here are my results:

Driving one of the top submarines I'm not able to clasify FFG or Udaloy in range more than 3nm (by towed array) if that kind of surface ship is not cavitating.

Driving the FGG or Udaloy, I'm not able to detect any top submarine moving at 5kts (by towed array) further than about 4nm.
It seems that only cavitating units are able to be detected. It brings some strange issues, for example: there is no own unit contact on the sonar if your unit is not cavitating. Why it is strange ? Because how it is possible that towed array is not able to detect own unit at speed 7kts for example ?

I don't even mention about heli because these are completely deaf.
All tests done in perfect weather conditions.

Could you please tell me if this is the new realism upgrade ?

I think I found the reason: values NRD in database. For DIFAR and DICASS values are +3 - what makes them so deaf. Other sonoboys are something like -5. Very similar is about towed array on FFG and some subs.
Active sonar on sonoboys are also affected.

I'm not sure in what version it was corrected because I didn't play long time.
CrazyIvam - could you please look at this ?
